Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) consists of the use of mobile devices (e.g. smartphones, tablets) to assist language learning. Despite different definitions of MALL, researchers seem to agree on the following characteristics, EXCEPT:

  • Students can study at any time and/or place.
  • Students can use different devices for continuity of study.
  • Students may have easier access to different sources of information.
  • Students will automatically become independent and critical language users.
