WPA2 uses the most secure CCMP as its cryptographic algorithm, which is based on the AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) final specification. This algorithm is certified at the highest level of security by the United States government with FIPS 140-2. About WPA2, we can say that:

  • WPA2 Private Mode offers a simple solution for small office users, and WPA2 Enterprise Mode offers an authentication with RADIUS.
  • WEP2 Private Mode offers an authentication with LDAP.
  • WPA2 Enterprise Mode is indicated for small offices and passwords must be used for access, and it cannot use RADIUS servers.
  • WPA2 Personal Mode provides a simple solution for home and small office users, and in Personal mode only a pre-shared key is required for authentication. WPA2 Enterprise Mode offers an 802.1x authentication with RADIUS.
  • WPA2 Personal is indicated for large companies using authentication through Active Directory, and a password cannot be used.
