Why was one of the results of The World Happiness Report 2024 considered a surprise by the author?

  • Luxembourg dropped two places when compared to the 2022 list and that was unexpected.
  • The author is amazed that Finland has held the first position for the seventh consecutive time.
  • It is surprising that Israel ranked fifth because the country is facing many diplomatic issues. Besides that, it is not in Europe, as most of the other top 10.
  • Developed nations such as the US and the UK are expected to be among the top 10, but the US did not even make the top 20.
  • Although Iceland is an island with a small population, it ranked third for the second consecutive time.
